The LEADS Workshop

One day to reset how a team works.

An intact team spends one day working through character and the five LEADS steps. Each session pairs a story from Scripture with a teaching point and an exercise. The team leaves with a signed plan for the next 90 days.

On site or online. Pricing is set by conversation. Scholarships are available.

Who the Day Is For

Built for a whole team, in the same room, working on the team’s own habits.

The workshop is for a leader and the people who report to that leader: a department, a staff team, an elder board, or a ministry team. Everyone attends together, because the habits that need to change belong to the whole team.

Before the day, each person takes the LEADS Self-Check, so the conversation begins with the team’s own results and not with theory.

Two versions are offered. For a church staff or elder team, the Listen session adds a care plan for members in crisis. For a workplace team, the day keeps the stories and leaves the pastoral care material out.

The Day

Seven sessions. One written commitment.

Times shift to fit the team. The order does not.

01

9:00

Foundation: character first

Story and teaching

David was chosen for his heart, not his height (1 Sam. 16:7). Inside must match outside. A team is entrusted to a leader, not owned.

Exercise

Each person writes a one-paragraph leadership vision.

02

9:45

Listen and communicate

Story and teaching

Job’s friends did their best work during seven days of silence (Job 2:13). The four checks before giving advice, and three questions before a meeting.

Exercise

In pairs, respond to a struggling team member using the four checks.

03

10:45

Earn trust

Story and teaching

Ruth’s pledge to Naomi, Boaz at the gate, and Nathan before David. Loyalty is shown in action. Leaders own failure first.

Exercise

Each table drafts a four-point integrity agreement.

04

12:00

Lunch: the shared table

Story and teaching

Much of the teaching in the Gospels happens over a meal. Trust grows through repeated presence.

Exercise

A guided table conversation, with no phones.

05

1:00

Allow autonomy

Story and teaching

Jesus sends out the seventy-two with a purpose and few rules (Luke 10). Commitment outlasts compliance. Give the purpose and release the outcome.

Exercise

Rewrite one team rule as a purpose the team can own.

06

1:45

Delegate authority

Story and teaching

Jethro tells Moses the work is too heavy to carry alone (Exod. 18). Hand over authority, not only tasks. One owner for each measure.

Exercise

Build the decision handoff list and a four-measure scorecard.

07

2:45

Share leadership

Story and teaching

Moses commissions Joshua. Paul trains Timothy (2 Tim. 2:2). Observe, Equip, Empower, Commission. The four-generation test.

Exercise

Name one person to develop and the stage that person is in.

08

3:30

Commitment

Story and teaching

In Nehemiah 9, the people tell an honest history and then sign a written agreement. Honest review and recommitment belong together.

Exercise

The team writes and signs a one-page plan for the next 90 days.

What the Team Leaves With

Five things on paper before anyone goes home.

A leadership vision from every person

One paragraph each, written in the first session and read aloud in the last.

Communication norms and an integrity agreement

How the team will listen, speak, and tell the truth, in four points the team wrote.

A decision handoff list

Each decision the leader is handing over, with the name of the new owner.

A four-measure scorecard

Four numbers the team will watch, with one owner for each.

A signed 90-day plan

One page. Every person signs. The plan is reviewed at 30, 60, and 90 days.

Questions

Before you book.

What happens before the day?

Each person takes the LEADS Self-Check. A team that wants a fuller picture can begin with the LEADS Team Assessment, and the workshop then uses those results.

Can the day run online?

Yes. The day runs on site or online. The sessions and the exercises are the same.

Is this for churches or for companies?

Both. The stories come from Scripture in either version. The church version adds a care plan to the Listen session.

What does the workshop cost?

Pricing is set by conversation, based on team size and location. Scholarships are available.

What comes after the day?

The team owns a 90-day plan. A team that wants coaching and a second measurement can continue into the LEADS Team Program.
