Hosea describes a people who had been hungry in the wilderness and were cared for there. Then they reached good land. They ate and were filled.
When the hunger went, something else went too. Their heart was lifted up, and they forgot. The danger was never the wilderness. The danger was arriving.
The same pattern shows up in leaders. The building years keep a person humble, asking, and listening. Then come the title, the budget, and the reputation. The questions stop. People stop bringing bad news.
The idea. The five steps rest on character, and success tests character more than hardship does. Need makes a leader listen. Arrival makes a leader sure.
The action for this week. Write down three habits you had when you were starting out and unsure: asking for feedback, thanking people by name, checking your work with someone. Which one did you stop? Restart that habit this week.
“They were filled, and their heart was lifted up; therefore they forgot me.”Hosea 13:6, ESV
