Moses spends most of Deuteronomy repeating himself.
The people have heard the law before. They have seen what God did for them. He tells them again anyway. “Remember” and “do not forget” run through the whole book.
He warns that the danger comes when things go well: when the houses are built, the herds have grown, and everyone has eaten and is full.
The idea. Teams rarely abandon their purpose in one decision. They drift, one busy week at a time, until nobody can say why the work matters. Leaders grow tired of repeating themselves long before the team has heard. When you are sick of saying the purpose, some people are hearing the purpose for the first time. Repetition is the job.
The action for this week. Write your team’s purpose in one sentence. Say that sentence at the start of every meeting this week. On Friday, ask one person to say the purpose back in their own words.
