Then the cruise ship got Wi-Fi

The problem was never the signal. A team that needs the leader for every answer is the real limit.

For years I planned my time off around one thing: being unreachable.

I bought a camper. I took a cruise. Even a business flight felt peaceful, because for a few hours nobody could ask me anything.

Then the campgrounds got a signal, the ships got internet, and the planes got Wi-Fi. Every place I had gone to disconnect became connected, and the questions followed me there.

The idea. I thought my problem was the signal. My problem was that every answer my team needed ran through me. I did not need a place where nobody could reach me. I needed a team that did not have to.

The action for this week. Keep a tally. Each time a decision reaches you, ask whether someone closer to the work could have made the call. Do not change anything yet. Only count.

“You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.”Exodus 18:18, ESV
