A technology executive, business founder, and Navy submarine veteran with 36+ years of leadership experience, he holds a Doctor of Business Administration with research on high-performing teams.

Dr. Jake Necessary helps leaders build teams that lead themselves. He is the founder of Empower the Leader and the creator of the LEADS Path, a five-step system that moves a team from waiting on the leader to sharing leadership: Listen, Earn trust, Allow autonomy, Delegate authority, Share leadership.
Dr. Necessary has led technology teams for 36+ years, as a senior security executive and as the founder of managed technology services companies. Leading teams through the sudden shift to remote work taught him that control fails at a distance and trust does not. He began his career in the United States Navy submarine force.
He holds a Doctor of Business Administration, with research on what makes teams perform when the leader cannot be in the room, along with CISSP and MCSE certifications. He lives near Dallas, Texas, with his family.
